Did you start your college experience at Murray State or did you transfer from another school?
I started as a freshman.

Why did you choose Murray State?
I chose MSU because their Pre-Vet program is excellent. Since I knew I wanted to go to veterinary school I felt Murray was the best school to prepare me for what I wanted to achieve in the future. I also received scholarship money from Murray State which made it affordable and allowed me to get the best education for the best price.

Are you involved in any extra-curricular activities?
The most important extracurricular I am involved in is the HT Pre Veterinary Club. I have served as an officer for two years and this year I became president. It has also allowed me to be more active in the program and offers opportunities to learn about veterinary medicine. The club also works tirelessly to support the program, and I think it is one of the best leadership opportunities for students interested in veterinary medicine.

What is the most interesting thing you have learned about yourself while being a student at Murray State?
Probably that the more you do, the more you can do. I’ve learned that I can always learn more and juggle more things than I ever thought I could.

What has been your biggest challenge in making the change from high school to university life and how have you dealt with it?
For me it was adapting to making your own decisions and managing my own time.

What do you like about your major?
I like that our program is so hands on and that the professors treat you as potential colleges. And they are very interest in how you can perform skills and what you know about the veterinary medical industry. I know they want me to succeed in the future and I believe the hands on experience I’ve gotten here I couldn’t get anywhere else.

What are your career plans after graduation?
I will be attending Auburn’s College of Veterinary Medicine in the fall.
