As we begin the New Year and a new semester, I am reminded of the continuing hard work by many individuals on campus as we make excellent progress toward the implementation of our new University Studies program. During the 2005-07 academic years, a blue-ribbon task force of faculty, alumni, and students led by Peter Murphy and Steve Cobb reviewed the University Studies program within the context of many different parameters. As a result of this extensive review, a truly new interdisciplinary program emerged. This new program was subsequently approved by Academic Council last year and will officially go into effect for entering students in fall semester 2009. Continue reading "Guest Columnist"
