Murray State University nets rankings from Forbes, G.I. Jobs and GetEducated.com

Murray State University (MSU) recently received recognition from Forbes magazine as one of “America’s Best Colleges.” In its second year of rankings, Forbes looks at both public and private colleges and universities throughout the nation. Murray State has appeared among the top colleges, scoring above any other Kentucky public universities on the list both years.
Additionally, Murray State was noted in the Forbes rankings for its quality programs and affordability/value by being designated one of the in the top 100 “America’s Best College Buys.” MSU is the only Kentucky public school included as a “Best Buy.”

“For many students, the price of a school is as important a factor in deciding where to go as its quality. Knowing where you can get the most quality for each tuition dollar spent helps those shopping on a budget. That is the goal of this year’s ‘Best Buy Ranking,’” Forbes editors noted.

Other “Best College Buys” selected by Forbes include The Citadel, Clemson, Texas Tech and the Virginia Military Institute.

Other recent rankings earned by the university include its designation as a “Military Friendly School” by G.I. Jobs magazine. According to magazine officials, the list honors the top 15 percent of schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s veterans as students. Murray State has a history of promoting higher education in the nearby Fort Campbell area, which has accelerated with the opening of the MSU-Hopkinsville campus. With the expansion of other Murray campuses into Madisonville, Henderson and Paducah, as well as the main campus in Murray, veterans have options on where they attend MSU.
